ARRANGEMENTS FOR OPERATING THE CARGO SHIP OF A FREIGHT SHIP
The present invention relates to an arrangement for operating the cargo hatch 5 of a cargo ship between an open and a closed position.
In a cargo ship, cargo is transported in the hold under cargo hatches. The deck has Movable cargo hatches to close the hold below. This invention relates to cargo hatches.
The hatch is operated by hydraulic or electric actuators. Power is traditionally supplied to these from the ship's electrical generators or hydraulic systems. The power supply for the actuators required to operate the hatches requires long cabling and piping from a centralized energy source, such as an electric generator in the engine room of the ship and a hydraulic engine in its own space.
There are several disadvantages associated with these known energy supply solutions. Hundreds of meters of energy supply lines cause power losses and, for example, oil leaks from hydraulic pipes on the ship's deck are possible. Manufacturing and installing large-scale cabling and piping is expensive and time-consuming during the ship construction phase. A separate hydraulic25 system for the operation of hatches also takes up space on board and is in itself an expensive investment.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a novel arrangement for generating and storing energy for operating hatches. The arrangement according to the invention is characterized in that the arrangement comprises an apparatus for collecting and storing energy for the operation of the hatch, integrated in the cargo hatch or horn or installed in the immediate vicinity thereof.
A preferred embodiment of the method according to the invention is characterized in that, in addition to energy collection and storage, the control systems related to the use of energy and the mechanisms and actuators required for the operation of the cargo hatch are integrated.
20185684 prh 16 -08- 2018 in the cargo hatch or horn or installed in their immediate vicinity.
Another preferred embodiment of the arrangement according to the invention is characterized in that the source of energy is the movement of the ship at sea, the temperature difference between the various components, sunlight or wind.
Another preferred embodiment of the arrangement according to the invention is characterized in that the energy is stored in electrochemical batteries or pressure vessels.
Other preferred embodiments of the arrangement according to the invention are defined in dependent claims 5-7.
The advantages of the invention are that it is not necessary to provide any external power supply from the ship's systems for the operation of the hatches. Instead, the hatches are operated entirely with free and environmentally friendly energy. The risk of Ym20 environmental contamination is eliminated when hydraulic piping is not required on the deck of the ship. The installation of cargo hatches at the shipyard becomes easier and faster when all the equipment necessary for the operation of the cargo hatch, including energy yield, is integrated into the cargo hatch. In addition, space is saved on board, as a centralized hydraulic system for operating hatches is not required on board.
In the following, the invention will be explained in detail by means of preferred embodiments with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which
Figure 1 shows the cargo hatches mounted on the deck of a ship on top of a horn in its closed position.
Fig. 2 shows the same as Fig. 1, but the cargo hatches 35 are now driven to the sides of the cargo space opening.
20185684 prh 16 -08- 2018
Thus, Figure 1 shows the deck 1 of a cargo ship, on which the edge of the cargo space, i.e. the horn 2, is located. access to the cargo space 3 below the water. Typically, there are 7 or 5 9 such pairs of cargo hatches on board.
In the situation of Figure 2, the cargo hatches 4, 4 'are driven to the sides of the opening of the cargo space 3, whereby loading and unloading of cargo is possible. In the following, only the parts necessary for moving the cargo hatch 4 will be described, but the corresponding parts 10 are also arranged in the cargo hatch 4 '.
An energy collection device 7 is integrated in the cargo hatch 4, which may be a generator or pump, a solar cell, a wind generator, an element utilizing the temperature difference or other similar device generating electrical energy or pressure from the movements of the ship's hull at sea. Furthermore, an energy store 8 is mounted on the cargo hatch 4, which may be an electrochemical battery or, for example, a pressure vessel.
For controlling and regulating the production and storage of energy 20, the cargo hatch 4 has a control unit 9. For the operation of the cargo hatch 4, a drive unit 10 is arranged therein, which controls actuators such as motors 6 driving drive wheels 5.
Typically, cargo hatches 4, 4 'are operated in connection with port calls when cargo is loaded or unloaded. Operating times are short and overall, operations are relatively infrequent. Most of the time, the ship sails at sea, with no cargo hatches operated. In this case, even a low-power energy collection system is able to collect a sufficient amount of energy for the next operation of the las30 shutters.
It will be clear to a person skilled in the art that the invention is not limited to the above-mentioned embodiments, but may vary within the scope of the appended claims. There are also means for collecting and storing energy other than those mentioned above, and the operation of the cargo hatches 4, 4 'can also be carried out by methods and actuators other than those mentioned above.
An embodiment has been described above, in which the arrangement according to the invention is located entirely in the cargo hatch. It is also possible to implement the arrangement in such a way that the equipment is located in whole or in part in the horn 2 or in the immediate vicinity of the cargo hatch 4, 4 'and the horn 2.
If necessary, the features presented in the description together with other features can also be used separately from each other, if necessary.
